The one thing AI can’t be is you

Why showing more of you is a smart move in the AI era

Read time: 6 minutes

AI is now better than us at almost everything: writing code, analysing data, even creating content.

But there’s one thing it still can’t replicate: being you.

I definitely grew up thinking that straight A’s and academic success was the golden ticket. But in this new world, that’s simply not enough anymore.

Companies are becoming increasingly:

- Hyper-agile

- Decentralised

- Community-driven

- Remote-first (mostly)

- Autonomously tracked

Soon, AI will run in the background 24/7, and many roles won’t be full-time jobs at all.

The future of business in 2025 and beyond will be built on three pillars:

- Your skills,

- your systems,

- and your personal brand.

In a world that feels more and more synthetic, trust is the new currency—and your personal brand is the only thing AI can’t automate.

It’s your moat, the best way to stay relevant and valuable. Now's the time to show more of yourself than ever before, and here’s how to get started in five practical steps:

1. Pick one skill and go deep on it

Lifelong learning isn’t optional anymore, it’s the baseline. Choose a skill you enjoy and that has long-term value, and chip away at it daily. It could be writing, video editing, storytelling, public speaking—whatever energises you. These creative and communication skills won’t be replaced by AI, they’ll be enhanced by it.

Action: Find something you want to master and commit to consistent progress. A little each day builds up fast.

2. Make AI your co-pilot, not your competition

I believe AI isn’t here to take your place, it’s here to give you leverage. So many still underestimate its power, but the real opportunity is in learning to use it as a tool to multiply your output. The ones who thrive won’t be those who resist itm but those who partner with it.

Action: Start small, use AI to streamline your work, generate ideas, or improve your speed. Adapt or risk being left behind.

3. Turn skills into income

I’ve realised over the past year that the real power play in today’s world is solving problems for others, and getting paid for it. It’s not about mastering everything; it’s about packaging what you know in a way that creates value—products, services, content, or community.

Action: Start something of your own—a podcast, digital product, masterclass—anything that helps others and builds your leverage.

4. Curate your environment

The people you surround yourself with shape your mindset and momentum. There’s so much noise out there, which makes it even more important to be intentional about who you listen to. I try to follow people who are living the future, not those stuck in the past.

Action: Follow people who build things, embrace change, and inspire action.

5. Build your personal brand

I truly believe your online presence is no longer a “nice to have”, it’s a strategic asset. It’s how people find you, trust you, and decide to work with you. It’s not just about social media posts, it’s about showing your values, experience, and perspective in different ways. It builds connection, and ultimately, opportunity.

Action: Share your journey, teach what you know and start building trust through content that educates, inspires, or entertains.

The bottom line

The future is uncertain, and we’re all figuring it out as we go—but by taking these five steps, you’ll give yourself real leverage in a world that’s moving fast.

Hope that helps!

How I’d use LinkedIn if I wasn’t trying to sell anything
What most people miss about the platform Read time: 6 minutes Most people think LinkedIn is solely for posting content, growing an audience, or selling a service to others. And of course, it's great for all of those things. But actually, if that was all stripped away, I’d still use it. Because what I've realised is that, at its core, LinkedIn isn’t a content or sales platform. It’s a platform t...
What writing a newsletter for a year taught me
Lessons from showing up consistently (even when I didn’t feel like it) Read time: 5 minutes At the beginning of 2025, I made a simple commitment to myself: Write one newsletter a week. There was no big strategy or long-term plan. Just a personal challenge to be consistent. Some weeks it felt easy: ideas flowed, writing was straightforward, and I’d publish something without thinking too much. Ot...
The people who seem "lucky" are doing this
6 habits that create more opportunities over time Read time: 7 minutes A while ago, someone made a comment that I always seem to “be in the right place at the right time.” It made me smile, because from the outside, it can look like luck. But when I think about most of my “high points”, they actually weren’t random at all. I don’t see luck as something that just happens to you. More often, it’s...
